DJ Headphones
09 April 2011
At DJs Only we believe if you are just starting out mixing to go for the Numark HF125 or the Kam KHP500. Both sets of headphones are great for entry level use. They are certainly not performance rated cans, but for something nice and cheap to start with you can't go wrong for under £15.
But then comes a problem. Everybody has there own personal preference when it comes to headphones. Some people like big headphones, so like small headphones. Some like over ear, some like the type that cover all your ear. It's a different recommendation to make, but the key is the price.
When it comes to headphones you get what you pay for. A £40 pair will out perform a £20 pair and a £100 will be out performed by a £150 pair. If something is very similar in price such as £30 or £40 there may not be a clear outright winner, but large differences in price certainly do give you a clear difference in performance.
So if you old £20 headphones have kaput, don't think a £30 pair will be better. They could be exactly the same, but a £50 pair will most definitely have some added benefits to them.
Remember also, if you have got in habit of buying a £30 pair every 6 months, as many people do, over 2 years you could have had a £100+ set.
Our top 3 favourites in price order are;
